Mobile Edge Computing - January 2021

videoconference

Length: 20 hours - 4 cfu

Abstract

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) has recently become a new computing paradigm with proximate access and also is a key technology in SG network. In the MEC paradigm, a number of small scales edge server are placed at the edge of the network. Mobile users can connect these edge servers. The main idea of MEC is to deploy edge server son the edge of the network close to the user so that users can use the computing, storage andother resources provided by the edge servers. Compared with traditional computing, the network traffic and network transmission time of MEC architecture can be significantly reduced because the edge servers are closer to mobile users. Hence, MEC has been a hot research topic and many high quality papers have been publishedMEC also is important topic in many famous conferencesIn this course, we first give a brief introduction about the concept, architecture, SG network, and then focus on the latest researches and industrial application of MEC. The course will discuss the following aspects:

      What's MEC

      Cloudlet and Fog Computing

      Computation Off loading in MEC

      Service Function Chain in MEC

Service Migration and Coordination in MEC

Resource Scheduling and Management in MEC

      Edge AI

      MEC for SG Application

      Vehicular Edge Computing and Application

      MEC for Industrial Internet Application

      MEC for Smart City
